Parco Nord

The Parco Nord Milan extends for about 600 hectares in the neighbourhoods of the northern suburbs of Milan. Its design dates back to the late 1960s, but was only in 1975 that it become recognised by the Lombardy Region as a regional park. Its management is entrusted to a Consortium of the six Municipalities around the Park and the Province of Milan.
The park is in one of the most densely urbanized areas of Europe, characterized by the presence of historic factories (which have now virtually disappeared as a result of de-industrialization) and large neighbourhoods that have long sealed the gap between the northern outskirts of Milan with its hinterland without any form of urban planning.

The Parco Nord Milan currently has about 350 hectares of greenery across wooded areas, clearings, rows, shrubs, hedges and small water mirrors. Today the park continues to expand and grow with the working methodology used throughout these years, aware of its social, urban and ecological role. The new reforestation lots, with small seedlings a few tens of centimetres tall protected by tree guards, symbolize the growing park and investment in the future. But it is the management and maintenance of the greenery that best expresses the working methodology used: for each new problem, a new, technologically advanced solution has been found in order to maintain the greenery’s quality standards and the care and maintenance that the citizens are used to seeing, making the Parco Nord Milan a concrete example of sustainable development for the entire city, similar to what is happening in other major European cities. The Parco Nord has many bike paths and refreshment areas to suit all needs.

It is therefore an exceptional place where technology, creativity, passion and professionalism converge to meet visitor expectations and respond to the city’s deepest needs.
